Creating visuals for use with the SMART Board (or any interactive whiteboard) is invaluable to all students, especially those with learning challenges or our ESL students. Many free quality pre-created visuals are available for you to download when you Google: Jack Hartmann Power Points. The book, Digital Footsteps also give many more tips for using and developing visuals for the elementary classroom. Songforteaching.com is a great website for discovering a variety of music, books, and more teaching stuff! They will be selling Digital Footsteps, in e-book format soon!
HI! I was the one you met in the Southeastern bookstore with Wendy…and I also know some of the teachers at your school. Your link from Jack Hartmann’s site worked just fine!
I will come back later to read more of your blog, but I had to comment after seeing you today!
About today’s blog, I probably have all of the powerpoints for Jack Hartmann’s songs and for Dr. Jean songs. I’ve even made my own! Because I don’t have a smart board, I do use my tv which is connected to my computer. It might not be interactive, but the kids love it!
Congrats on the book!
Hi Christi!
I am excited that you have found all those visuals even without possessing a SMART Board yet! It makes teaching & learning so much more fun with visuals, doesn’t it! Digital Footsteps does give info for funding tools of technology. There are lots of grant available if Medulla has a grant writing team, I checked out your website. You are a step ahead of me with that! I don’t have a classroom website for my Berkley parents. You have challenged me to think about that for sure! You have some great links for parents! Valuable tools! Way to go, Christi! Tell Sunny I said hello. Have her to get in touch. I would love to come do some workshops at Medulla. My oldest daughter actually attended there for 1 year while Susan Jones was principal.
Everyone can check out Heidisongs.com for great DVDs that put sight words to music! Heidi Butkus is a Southern CA K teacher that I met presenting in Las Vegas. She does workshops across the country and has created these cute, helpful DVDs for learning sight words! Her email is Heidi@heidisongs.com
